We are thrilled to have Paula Stone Williams with us tomorrow! 10:00 a.m. worship service at which she is preaching... and 11:45 seminar on gender equity at which she is teaching. Plenty of time to ask questions and learn from one of the most brilliant voices we have today. 2460 Sutter St., all, of course, are welcome!
Join us Thursday evening for a Summer Conversation : Racial Disparities in Medical Research Chances are, the medications and medical tests prescribed for you were not made for you. Who were they made for, and how closely does that person represent you? Significant problems with drug efficacy and medical test accuracy can occur if they were developed in one population but used in another population whose genetic patterns differ from the first. As our country becomes increasingly racially and ethnically diverse, what are the implications of pursuing a one-size-fits-all approach to medicine? Diversity in biomedical and clinical research is an asset. Ignoring racial/ethnic diversity is a missed scientific opportunity and can translate to poor clinical outcomes. Thu, Jul 11 | 6:30 - 8:30 PM | City Church Office | 1388 Sutter St Suite 412 Dinner and beverages will be available for a small suggested donation https://www.citychurchsf.org/SCRD
The Reverend Dr. Paula Stone Williams knows the truth will set you free, but only after it upends your carefully constructed narrative. Her devotion to authenticity caused her to leave her comfort zone as a nationally known religious leader and follow her heart to transition from Paul to Paula. She lost all of her jobs and most of her friends. Williams also discovered the massive differences between life as a male and as a female in America. Williams is the pastor of preaching and worship at Left Hand Church in Longmont, Colorado, a pastoral counselor with RLT Pathways and a sought-after speaker to corporations, government agencies, universities and religious institutions on issues of gender equity and LGBTQ advocacy. She has been featured in the New York Times, the Denver Post, New Scientist, Radio New Zealand, Colorado Public Radio and The Huffington Post. Her TEDxMileHigh talk on gender equity has had more than two million views, and her TEDWomen 2018 talk has already had over one million views. Paula will be preaching at 10:00 a.m. this Sunday, July 14th, followed by a seminar at 11:45 entitled: “Thoughts About Gender Equity, Human Sexuality & Spirituality from a Transgender Woman”, at which she will share her experience of transitioning and the insights she has gained about gender inequity from her loss of male privilege. Join us for a fantastic learning opportunity that will provide ample opportunity to ask any questions you have about the transgender experience. Lunch will be provided for a small suggested donation. We are located at 2460 Sutter St. All are welcome!

Based on stories from her book (and from an iBelieve article), join Cara Meredith as she guides us towards eight tangible antiracism principles. Second Week of Lent DAILY PRACTICE : Saying “No” Think about what you might want to say “no” to today (or if at the end of the day, remember a few times when you said “no”). Reflect on what motivates you to say “no” as well as what makes it difficult for you to say “no.” Then consider these two things that Barbara Brown Taylor says you can be doing in the act of saying no: “You rise up against your history, your ego, your culture and its ravenous economy.” “Test the premise that you are worth more than you can produce.” Consider how you might more and more make the practice of saying “no’ a choice to rest in God.
